Passage narration exercise for SSC with answers -kolpopata

1.  “I've got GPA-5 in the SSC Examination,” said Samir. “ Congratulations, brother!” I said. “What do you intend to do now?” “I wish to study science group in a reputed college. I've a mind to get admission in BUET after my HSC, ” Samir replied.


Answer: Samir told me that he had got GPA-5 in the SSC examination. Addressing him as brother, I congratulated him and asked him what he intended to study then. Samir replied that he wished to study science group in reputed college. He added that he had a mind to get admission in BUET after his HSC.



2.  “What is the time by your watch?” said an old man. I said, “It is half past nine”. He said,  “I want to go to your house. Will you accompany me, please?” “No. I am sorry because I am going to school,” said I. 


Answer: An old man asked me what the time was by my watch. I replied that it was half past nine. He told me that he wanted to go to my house. He also requested if I would accompany him. I replied in the negative and said that I was sorry because I was going to school.




3.  Rina said Sima, “why don't you get up early from sleep?” Sima said, “It is tough for me to leave bed early.” “Alas! It is a bad habit, said Rina, if you leave bed early, you can enjoy sound health.  Follow my advice.”


Answer: Rina asked Sima why she (S) did not get up early from sleep. She replied that it was tough for her (S) to leave bed early. Rina exclaimed with sorrow that it was a very bad habit. She(R) added that if she (S) left bed early, she (S) could enjoy sound health. She (R) also requested her (S) to follow her (S) advice.




4.  “Good morning, Farzana, said Abrar. “How much preparation have you taken for this exam?” “Not bad at all said she. “I hope I will get GPA-5.” “Wow, what a bright girl!” said Abrar. “But my preparation is not so good.”


Answer: Abrar wished Farzana good morning and asked her how much preparation she had taken for that exam. Farzana replied that her preparation was not bad at all. She added that she would get GPA-5. Abrar exclaimed with joy that she was a very bright girl. But he added that his preparation was not so good.



5.  “May I come in sir?” Ripon said to his class teacher. The teacher replied, “Yes, why are you so late today?” “My grandfather suddenly felt severe pain in his chest. So, I rushed to hospital with him.” “May Allah grant his quick recovery,” said the teacher.


Answer: Ripon asked his class teacher respectfully if he (R) might go in. The teacher replied in the affirmative and asked why he was so late that day. Ripon replied that his (R) grandfather suddenly had felt severe pain in his (G) chest. So, he (R) added, he had rushed to hospital with him (G). The teacher prayed that Allah might grant his (G) quick recovery.





6.  The teacher said to the boy, “Why are you disturbing the class in this way? Don't you know that it is an important class? Get out of the room and don't come back today.” “Excuse me, sir,” said the boy. “I'll never disturb in the class,” The boy promised.


Answer : The teacher asked the boy why he was disturbing the class in that way and asked if he didn't know that it was an important class and told to get out of the room and not to come back that day. He (Boy) respectfully begged to excuse him and promised that he would never disturb in the class.





7.  “Good morning Rupa,” said Sohel. “How much preparation have you taken for the upcoming SSC Exam?” “A great preparation” replied she. “I hope, I shall get 90+ marks in every subject.” “How confident you are!” said Sohel.


Answer: Sohel wished Rupa good morning. Then he asked her how much preparation she had taken for the upcoming SSC Exam. She replied that she had taken a great preparation. She added that she hoped, she would get 90+ marks in every subject. Sohel exclaimed with wonder that she was very confident.




8.  Shahib said to Tashin, “Did you visit the Shat Gombuj Mosque?” “No, I didn't”, said Tashin. “I was there last week. How beautiful the mosque is!” said Shahib. “Let's go there next week,” Tashin said.


Answer : Shabab asked Tahsin if he (T) had visited the Shat Gombuj Mosque. Tahsin replied in the negative and said that he had not visited the place. Shabab told that he had been there the previous week. Then he (S) exclaimed with joy that the mosque was very beautiful. Lastly Tahsin proposed that they should go there the following week.





9.  My mother said, “Won't you go to school today?” I said, “Mother, I feel feverish today. I don't want to go to school.” “Ok, take rest now. You should be more careful about your health,” said mother.


Answer: My mother asked me if I would not go to school that day. I told my mother that I felt feverish that day. I also said that I did not want to go to school. My mother told me that it was Ok and then she told me to take rest. My mother also advised me that I should be more careful about my health.




10.  "My sons, listen to me, A great treasure lies hidden in the land. I am going to leave it to you." "How'll we find it?" said the sons. "You must dig the land for it," said the old man.


Answer: The old man told his sons to listen to him and added that a great treasure lay hidden in the land. He also added that he (old man) was going to leave it to them (sons). In reply the sons asked how they would find it. The old man replied that they (sons) had to dig the land for it.





11.  The police officer said to Mita, “How can I help you?” Mita replied, “While I was coming home alone by a taxi last night snatchers rode into by taxi.” “Did they snatch anything from you?” “Yes sir, they took away my cell phone and some money,” said Mita. “Let me record a complaint,” said the police officer. 


Answer :  The police officer asked Mita how he (P) could help her. Mita replied that while she (M) had been going home alone by a taxi the previous night, two snatchers had ridden into her (M) taxi. The police officer asked her if they had snatched anything from her. Mita politely replied in the affirmative saying that they had taken away her cell phone and some money. The police officer told that he might record a complaint.
